What We Would Like To Do
Going Forward Into The Future
We at Fishing for Heroes believe that quality can not be sacrificed for the sake of quantity and to ensure that each and every veteran or serving beneficiary who comes through Fishing for Heroes gets the help and support that they so desperately need.
In order to enable us to do this we need to be able to deliver more courses, not only to those new beneficiaries applying to Fishing for Heroes, but to those who have become part of the Fishing for Heroes family over the last few years.
Once people who have been through initial courses or can fly fish already, we encourage everyone to come along to events, so that they can meet up with and fish alongside others who are facing the same issues as themselves. We are in the process of putting together a program of regional get togethers of between 5-15 beneficiaries, introducing them not only to local waters but to others who may only live just down the road and who will become their new fishing buddies. This year we have held regional get togethers around England, in the South West, the South East, the Midlands and the North of England. By the end of the year we will have held between 25 and 30. An annual target of 30 regional get togethers with between 5 to15 attendees at each, as well as individual courses, is achievable. This will give the continuity of fishing, having attended an individual course it gives beneficiaries the opportunity to attend an event every 6 weeks in their own region.
Being able to spend a few days with nothing but the river and fellow veterans for miles around can have an incredibly healing effect. We already have several sponsors who without their help none of these trips would be possible and we would like to say a huge thank you to all of them, however we need more help. If you or your company think you could help in any way please contact us!
